Amie Taylor – Yoga Therapy
Amie has been playing with the application of Yoga since her original teacher training on the west coast of Canada at The Salt Spring Centre of Yoga.
There is a yoga for everyone; it just won’t look the same as the next persons. And of course it cannot. Each of our bodies has a story to tell, your story, and it is reflected in how you move, how you learn, how you think and how you interact with the world around you .
The constant investigation into why we do what we do and the incredible power we have over our minds, bodies and spirits has drawn Amie to the Therapeutic application of yoga and Yoga Therapy. Like everyone that embarks on the practice of Yoga Amie’s life choices have evolved along with her teaching style and application.
Today Amie’s teaching style reflects time spent studying meditation, pranayama techniques, Yoga Philosophy, Classical Hatha Yoga, the principals of tensegrity, The Anatomy Trains, physiology, biomechanics and integrated movement.
Amie has taught Therapeutic Yoga workshops, classes and private Yoga Therapy in Mexico, Australia and Canada. Home is the West Coast of Canada where Amie teaches Therapeutic Yoga workshops and has a private practice where she integrates a modern approach to anatomy, physiology, biomechanics and kinesiology with the principals of the Yoga teachings to treat people living in pain that wish to get back to the life they want to live.
“The incredible power to heal that is in our breath, in our minds and in our movement patterns is bewildering. It is all there, but somehow that wisdom has a way of falling into the background of our busy lives. To bring that awareness back into how we move in our structure and how we move through our lives is the ultimate goal of my teaching”.
My teaching foundation and company catchphrase is “Truth in movement”. If we can find the truth in our movement, the mind, breath and spirit naturally follow and life starts to fall into place. Our duty is to develop an honest relationship with ourselves and when that relationship is nurtured it insists that we hold that same space for everyone.”
