Naturopathic Medicine
What can naturopathic medicine do for you?
Naturopathic medicine blends traditional non-toxic therapies with leading edge scientific research in the study of health and disease, covering all aspects from prenatal to geriatric care.
It is a historical system of medicine that concentrates on whole-patient wellness. The medicine used is specifically tailored to each individual patient and emphasis is placed on prevention and self-care.
Naturopathic physicians are extensively trained in finding and treating the root cause of illness; they aim to help patients make lifestyle choices that promote health and provide lasting cures rather than simply masking symptoms while the disease process continues.
Therapies used
Dr. Sacha Elliott will use a variety of tools in order to tap into the innate healing power of the body and promote balance; these include clinical nutrition, supplements, detoxification, herbal medicine, homeopathy, acupuncture, chelation, IV nutrients, and bio-identical hormones. The goal is to re-establish balance on the physical, mental, emotional and spiritual levels while teaching you how to maintain life-long balance and health.
Conditions treated
Typical conditions that naturopathic doctors treat are digestive disorders, immune imbalances, allergies, food sensitivities, chemical sensitivities, skin conditions, depression, anxiety, hormone disturbance, obesity, stress, fatigue, diabetes, heart disease, and cancer, to name a few.
Education
Naturopathic doctors are required to complete an undergraduate degree in pre-medical studies before graduating from a four year program at an accredited naturopathic medical school. Dr. Elliott completed her BA in Psychology from UBC and received her doctorate diploma from Boucher Institute of Naturopathic Medicine.
Naturopathic physicians are trained as primary care providers; this allows them to run laboratory tests, perform physical exams, diagnose, and treat all health conditions.
